Since the foundation of psychological science in the antiquity, it has undergone plenty of changes and modifications. Each new century brought a new branch of psychological science providing even greater fields for the researching and treatment of people with certain psychological illnesses. By means of such rapid progress of this science, it quickly became an independent scientific discipline with plenty of followers all over the world. In this essay, we will list the most peculiar branches of psychological study. These are the following: NLP Psychoanalysis Gestalt psychology Systemic Constellations by Hellinger Hypnosis Positive psychotherapy Person-centered therapy Art therapy Body-oriented therapy Coaching NLP Neuro-linguistic programming is one of the branches of psychology and psychoanalysis based on special techniques of verbal and non-verbal human behavior modeling as well as the set of special connections between memory, eye movement, and speech forms. NLP appeared in the 60s - 70s of the 20th century thanks to the work of a group of scientists: Richard Bandler, John Grinder, and Frank Pucelik, who worked under the patronage of the famous anthropologist Gregory Bateson. NLP is not approved by the academic scientific community, and most of the methods applied do not have any scientific background. However, today NPL is a much-propagated type of psychological analysis and is used by many companies during the psychological training. Psychoanalysis Psychoanalysis is a psychological theory developed by the Austrian neurologist Sigmund Freud on the verge of the 19th and 20th centuries. Psychoanalysis is also considered to be the most effective method of treatment of various illnesses. Thanks for the following researchers: K.G. Jung, A. Adler, G.S. Sullivan, K. Horney, J. Lacan and E. Fromm this branch of psychology was developed and scientifically proven. Among the most prominent scientific achievements is the theory according to which our unconscious attractions and desires are determined by our behavior, experience and conscious; our personality and its further development are determined by events that occurred in early childhood; the confrontation between the conscious and the unconscious can lead to mental disorders, etc. According to modern interpretation, psychoanalysis consists of more than twenty different concepts of human development and approaches to the treatment of mental illnesses by means of psychoanalysis. Gestalt psychology The Gestalt psychology was founded at the beginning of the 20th century by the Czech psychologist and philosopher Max Wertheimer. The signs of its appearance were the study of perception, and special attention to the desire of our mind to transform our experience received into the unit of comprehensible information. According to the ideas of Gestalt psychology, basic psychological data is the gestalt, i.e. integral structures that are not singled out from the total number of components that form them. They have their own rules and features. However recently Gestalt psychology changed its direction and thus the understanding of human consciousness. Its followers are positive that psychological analysis should be directed to the general mental image rather than to the separate parts. Systemic Constellations by Hellinger Systemic family constellations are a phenomenological method of systemic family therapy. Its important discoveries were made by the German philosopher, psychotherapist, and theologian Bert Hellinger. The method itself is designed to correct systemic family traumas, called system dynamics, and to eliminate their consequences. Therapists using this method have determined that most people's problems are related to family traumas that have occurred in the past, such as murder, suicide, early death, rape, moving to another place, divorces, etc. Systemic constellations by Hellinger differ from other similar methods since it is used only once. In his books, Hellinger refers this technique not to psychotherapeutic directions, but to spiritual practices. Hypnosis Hypnosis refers to the modified state of consciousness, which is characterized simultaneously as an awakening and asleep, in the course of which the one who is subjected to the hypnosis can see dreams. Most people are convinced that they can achieve the same effect by means of drugs but it is not true By means of the hypnosis, one can open the doors to two words (conscious and unconscious ones) that exist in our minds. The first information about hypnosis dates back to the third millennium BC. It was also used in India, Egypt Tibet, Rome, Greece and other countries. The foundations of hypnosis are based on the duality of our mind and its nature. Eventually, our unconsciousness is more influential than our consciousness and its influence is much stronger. Thus, hypnosis can solve greater psychological problems than traditional methods can. Positive psychotherapy The method of positive psychotherapy is one of the most important in psychoanalysis. It was founded by the German neurologist and psychiatrist Nossrat Peseschkian in 1968, but the European Psychotherapy Association has approved it in 1996, and the World Council of Psychotherapy did it only in 2008. This essay on how to achieve positive mindset is based on the scientific achievements of this branch of psychology and will definitely be useful. This psychotherapeutic technique is referred to as the transcultural psychodynamic psychotherapeutic techniques with a humanistic attitude. According to this theory, the most important gift of the human nature is abilities (both inherited and acquired). The methodology combines both rational and Western scientific approach but also Western wisdom and philosophy. Client-centered therapy Client-centered therapy as a psychotherapeutic method was suggested by the American psychologist Carl Rogers as an alternative to behaviorism and psychoanalysis. Initially, the author presented a hypothesis according to which a person can independently change his/her behavior, and the therapist performs only the role of an observer in controlling the process. However, later, its methods were significantly improved that enabled the specialists to better understand the clients condition and the changes during the treatment process. Thanks to the major features of this approach it was named as client-centered therapy since the major feature of the treatment is good relationships between the client and the doctor in order to achieve maximal results. Art therapy Art therapy is a special kind of psychological treatment and psychotherapy, which is based on creativity and art. In general, art therapy can be called a treatment through visual creativity, whose goal is to influence the emotional state of a person. The term "art treatment" was introduced in 1938 by British artist and therapist Adrian Hill when he described his work in medical institutions with tuberculosis patients. Then the method was applied in the US to work with children who were taken out of Nazi concentration camps during World War II. Over time, art therapy acquired new followers, and in 1960 the American Art Therapy Association was founded in the United States. In order to use this type of therapy, you need to develop your imagination. Use these tips as a starting point for your treatment. Body-oriented therapy Body-oriented psychotherapy is a therapeutic practice that allows you to work with neuroses and other neurological problems through physical contact. The founder of this direction is the disciple of Sigmund Freud, American and Austrian psychologist Wilhelm Reich, who switched from psychoanalysis to the body therapy. The basis of this therapy is the concept of "muscular shell", according to which the muscle clamps are formed as a protection against the anxieties arising in the childhood on the basis of sexual desires and the fear of being punished. Coaching Coaching is a relatively recent method of training and consulting that differs from traditional ones since it lacks a theoretical basis but it is aimed at collaboration between the client and the therapist to find the customized treatment. For example, coaching is aimed at teaching people to work as a team. Our writers elaborated an essay on how to work as a team successfully without applying to coach The coaching is also applied to achieve certain goals in our day-to-day activity. The founders of coaching are considered to be the American coach and the creator of the concept of the internal game Timothy Golvi, British racing car driver and business coach John Whitmore and the founder of the University of Coaches and other coaching organizations Thomas J. Leonard. The major goal of this method is to find the most effective solution for the problem in personal life, day-to-day activity and at work and help this person to change his/her life. This list is limited only by our personal preferences. There are plenty of other branches of psychological science which we preferred not to include in our list but they are also very important for the psychology in general. We just consider these ones to be the most effective and interesting. Our capabilities and skills are almost unlimited. The Progression Of Feudalism During Medieval Europe

The Progression of Feudalism Starting roughly in 1250, Western Europe was engulfed in a way of life that revolved around an agricultural economy and had an established military hierarchy that lasted for several centuries until the developments within the areas of agriculture, technology, social, and political that enabled the classes of feudalism to erode and create new systems of government centered on a monarch. New economic ideas were important in enabling the expansion of trade and wealth to the kingdoms that would be vital to the establishment of a new era of time called the Renaissance. Feudalism was a model of government during medieval Europe, it centered on a military hierarchy. At the top was the lord, who would offer usage of his lands in exchange for military service (Wheeler), this man would become known as a vassal. This system of hierarchy was a key part within the feudalistic society. A unified government was not part of the feudal system due to the fact that the gove rnment always consisted of agreements between individuals instead of between nations or citizens (Wheeler). Each lord was a ruler of his own lands and could only control the vassals under his subjection. Due to the centralization of the economies within the lord’s lands, trade and economic growth was often subdued. Serfs were farmers who worked the lord’s lands and were strictly tied to it. Oxford Plastics Company free essay sample

Oxford Plastics is under a critical timeline that requires them to update their current operations. Timing for this project is so critical because the current facility is not up to the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. The risk here is if the new facility is not up and running in a timely manner the EPA could find the company in violation of the standards and is capable of shutting the current process down. Local Environmentalist: The land that upper management is looking to purchase would require the removal of several 100+ years old trees. There is an underlying fear that there will be issues with the local environmentalist, thus postponing the project. Current Zoning: The 25-arce lot of land is located outside of the current industrial zoning boundary. This could be a problem because the company may not be able to obtain the proper permits they may need for the expansion. The organization is concerned about the local environmentalist’s, the city’s economy and the impact it has on these other interests. Collaborative Network: Oxford’s Plastics needs to collaborate with the local interest groups to ensure the project goes smoothly. Henderson is already meeting with the Director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, and this is a ood start to creating relationships within the community. What are your goals for the situation in the best interest of the organization? The way Henderson is beginning to collaborate with community members is a good start for ensuring this project goes smoothing. At the end of the case, Henderson is contemplating whether to hold a meeting with the community members. We feel that this is a good idea. However, before the meeting we feel that Henderson needs to be prepared for objections. In order to create a win-win for Oxford and for the local environmentalist, we feel that Oxford should offer to sponsor some new trees to be planted elsewhere in the community. If Henderson is able to have the environmentalist approval, the next battle will be working with the local government in order to rezone the land. Henderson is already working with Beth Friedlander from the Economic Department. If he is able to get her support for this expansion, we believe the Governor will change his stance on the rezoning issue.

The Future of Human Computer Interface and Interactions

Introduction The society today has completely changed due to technology. Technology is changing at a very rapid rate and with the changes come the need to adapt to them. Computer has changed the way human being does his activities (Beaureau 2008, p.36). Unlike before when most of the activities were done manually, computer has enabled automation of most of activities, especially in large companies.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on The Future of Human Computer Interface and Interactions specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More It is now possible for a manager to monitor activities taking place in a different company’s branch from where he or she is by use of computerized gadgets. Management and other duties have been redefined by introduction of the modern day gadgets that are computer controlled. The Future of Human Computer Interface and Interactions Human Computer Interface refers to the interactivity between com puter and people (Sutherland, Robertson and John 2009, p.49). Unlike other gadgets that do not communicate with the user, computer is the only tool that will have a direct communication with the user. This interactivity is made possible by both the software and the hardware. The user passes the communication by use hardware like mouse and keyboard and receives the communication through characters displayed on monitor, or through sound. However, this method of communication is only reliable to people who are not handicapped. People without hands and those that are mentally handicapped may not be in a position to operate the traditional computers properly (Rodgers and Streluk 2002, p.98). However, this may be changing very soon. Dr. Eric Leuthardt and a group of other scientist have developed a new computer interface that would accommodate the physically handicapped. This interface allows one to control the computer using the brain. The computer is programmed to read the mind and resp ond to the demands of that mind. By using the power of their thought, these physically handicapped individuals are able to control the cursor to issue commands to the computer. This interface will also benefit individuals with spinal code injuries or paralysis This invention is so sophisticated as in makes it possible for anyone to use this gadget regardless of the physical challenges that one may be having. Moreover, it comes with speed as the commands will be issued as soon as they come to the mind.Advertising Looking for essay on computer science? Let's see if we can help you! A group of Australian scientist has come with a new invention that is very similar to that of iPad. It has the ability to read anything placed on it. This makes it very appropriate in places that require high level of security like in the airports or the five star hotels. I t can also be of good use in places like supermarkets in the billing section. The future of human computer interface and interactivity is already here. Life is becoming easier with every technological invention. This has a positive impact both in the short and long run, especially in the field of entertainment and digital divide. Human being will also be able to delegate much of his duties to computers. A keener look into this phenomenon will reveal that in as much as these inventions are necessary and that they have positive impact on mankind, it is also true that they come at a cost. The effect of these sophisticated machines on the environment is adverse, especially when poorly disposed (Abbot 2001, p.79). These inventions will also impact negatively on culture, as life becomes what one wants, regardless of age. It is therefore necessary to take care as we embrace this technology. R-rated movies essays

R-rated movies essays R-Rated Movies Are Not Meant For the General Public The government has decided that R-rated movies are not appropriate for viewing by people under the age of 17. Cable television is viewed by a majority of the entire population. With such a diverse audience of cable television viewers, uncut R-rated movies should not be shown on cable, because of the probability of an R-rated movie being viewed by an inappropriate audience. R-rated movies often contain foul language, nudity, and excessive violence. Components of R-rated movies are at the center of controversial disputes such as pornography on the internet, and violence on television and in video games, and cable providers have been pushing the issue of what they can show on television for years. As of right now, edited R-rated movies are fair game on television, because the foul language, nudity, and some of the violence have been cut out. This eliminates some of the offensiveness, but it doesnt compensate for the adult themes and innuendos. As it is, much of society objects to what is currently being shown on television, and would be outraged if uncut R-rated movies were permitted. Ratings for movies were made to determine which movies are appropriate for which audiences. A movie given the rating of R has been determined to be inappropriate for audiences under the age of 17. Movie rental stores and theatres refuse to sell these movies to individuals under the age of 17. Not only have R-rated movies been deemed inappropriate for those under 17 years old, many adults have found these movies to be so offensive, that they refuse to watch them. For social, religious, or moral reasons, many adults have chosen not to watch R-rated movies, and to prohibit their children from watching them. Permitting cable providers to show uncut R-rated movies on their basic programming would undermine the authority and beliefs of these people. Realistically, cable television ...

Role Play Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Role Play - Essay Example In this paper, we would be outlining in detail a role play activity and discuss on the anticipated learning outcomes and procedure, including the sub-skills of speaking that will be focused. The consideration of new learning tasks that become possible with new technologies should be part of the educator's strategic learning plan (Freeman & Capper, 1999, pp.95-116). We thus decided to design and implement a role play as an interactive learning activity within one module of a teaching course for academic staff at a University. The role play was designed to trial the existing face-to-face workshop that might offer more flexibility of access for participants and provide an opportunity to explore various approaches to a contentious topic within the course. Sixteen participants were divided into two groups of eight participants each and given the same directions, information and role statements. The role plays were set up within a classroom, during which participants were expected to contribute to discussion from the viewpoint of the role they were playing. At the end of the role play participants were given access to the postings from both role plays and the contributions we re discussed. Marks were not allocated to the role play, although a specified level of participation was a requirement for course completion. Evaluation Methodology The evaluation methodology was grounded in the interpretive paradigm, the central endeavor of this paradigm being "to understand the subjective world of human experience" (Cohen & Manion, 1994, p. 205). Case study method was utilized, in which the researcher 'observes' aspects of individual or group activity in order to "probe deeply and to analyze intensively the multifarious phenomena with a view to establishing generalizations about the wider population to which the unit belongs" (Cohen & Manion, 1994, p. 106-107). In this case study the role play moderator is a "participant-observer" (Cohen & Manion, 1994, p. 107), participating to some extent in the activity being evaluated. To determine the effectiveness of the role play activity the moderator analyzed the descriptive accounts and the face-to-face discussion responses. Participant responses to the activity were also evaluated by questionnaire using closed questions on a four point scale from strongly agree to strongly disagree, with provision for open comments. The questionnaire and discussion covered the effectiveness and purpose of the role play; feelings about taking part; anonymity; and role engagement. Eleven of the fourteen participants completed the questionnaire and participated in the discussion. (Initially sixteen participants were allocated roles but two left the course) The Role Play Description and Purpose The role play was designed to provide participants with a realistic forum to discuss the issue - the letters column of a supposed local newspaper, the Daily View. The role play took place at a mythical university in which criterion referenced assessment had been used within a subject. All students had achieved 100%. Participants discussed the merits of norm referenced and criterion referen

Why You Should Adopt dogs and not buy them Assignment

Why You Should Adopt dogs and not buy them - Assignment Example ally many benefits that can be enjoyed by both the person in question and the dog that will be adopted if the individual chooses to acquire a pet from a shelter. For example, adopting a pet is more cost effective than buying one. Many rescue groups and city shelters tend to spend a great deal of money on aspects such as regular visits to the veterinarian, boarding costs, and grooming. Many people also do not realize that adopting a pet leaves them with many options in regards generating support groups that help them to live in harmony with their new pet. If an individual buys a dog from a store, he or she assumes all responsibilities for that pet, even with the absence of any past records on the animal. The process of adopting a pet enables the new owner to be furnished with critical information with regard to the animal’s history. Adoption centers such as rescue groups are also more likely to help the new owner with responsibilities through the familiarization period as they are as interested as the owner in ensuring that the dog finds a good home. Service enterprises, such as the Beagle Freedom Project, that deal in the sheltering of dogs are worth researching to discover the different aspects involved in adopting or purchasing dogs. Such organizations tend to keep records on each of their pets, their acclimatization to their new surroundings when they are adopted, and the extent to which they are successfully integrated into their new families. Retaining the HR Function Essay Example for Free

Retaining the HR Function Essay Introduction This report is to the executive directors and will be outlining the importance of retaining the HR function within the business. I will be explaining how HR activities support the organisations strategy and how HR professionals support line managers and their staff. HR is essential to the smooth running of the business. HR is there to ensure that the company do not have a high turnover of staff and that training is given to employee. HR is essential to help the company meet its targets, and ensuring that the company complies with legal requirements including Health Safety. How three HR activities support the organisations strategy Recruitment Recruitment is co-ordinated by the HR department and is a major factor on how your business recruits the right type of people to carry out the tasks required. HR will in this instance start from the beginning and advertise for the positions to be applied for, HR will also screen and interview the right type of candidates required and then Induct them once the candidate  is successful in getting the position. This is a time consuming job which the department that HR are recruiting for will not have time for and can spend their time concentrating on their departments. HR are responsible for sending out the necessary letters and paperwork to the candidates. Disciplinary’s / Grievances Disciplinary’s are usually completed due to a employee mis conduct or absence related. The HR team usually monitors all absences and would notify the line manager of any concerns. HR support the line managers by attending these disciplinary meetings and advise on the best course of action to be taken, HR are also responsible for ensuring the necessary paperwork is completed for the disciplinary to take place. Grievances are dealt with by the line managers also and again HR is responsible for ensuring that grievances are dealt with fairly and equally. Induction The HR department are responsible for inducting all new employees who enter into the business. Inductions are quite important in how the new employee fits into the business and responds with the demands and the business strategy. All new employees should be inducted with the practices, policies and procedures and the culture that the company operates in. This will allow the new employee to familiarise and settle into their role with how the business works, this should help keep the employee retention level quite low. The induction process done ‘effectively reflects the employer brand and the values the organisation is promoting. It is important, therefore, to ensure that the induction process reflects the values and culture of the organisation’ (CIPD, 2014) Three ways HR professionals support line managers and their staff Performance management The HR function here will provide you with the best way to maximise the potential of your employees. If you have underperforming employees HR will be able to help you get the maximum out of them. The process is performance management during this period the employee will go through a set of meetings to discuss their performance shortfalls. if after reviewing the  shortfalls the HR department are able to advise of the further necessary steps to take e.g. disciplinary, warnings etc. HR are there to support the managers carrying out the meetings and advising of the best way forward. Legal The HR function for the business in a legal matter would be to ensure that the organisation activities are complying with legislative requirements i.e. pay increase, working time regulations. HR would have to know the employment law to a degree in this way HR would act as an advisor for the company. We may also be making a decision on some occasions depending on the circumstances surrounding the issue or speak to the line managers on further training. more importantly HR are responsible for keeping records e.g. disciplinary, absences, training, as these good records can afford real protection for employers and managers who may need to defend their actions at a tribunal or In other courts (Martin and Whiting, 2013). If the company fails act accordingly to the legal requirements they could possibly face claims, and also the last instance close down the company Training HR is responsible for the training aspect of the business, if a department identifies the need for a training requirement they will notify the HR department. The HR departments responsibility would be to find how the training is going to be given out, i.e. external or internal If external training is required HR who have to find a company who deliver the training and find out the necessary information. This may include costs, venue, duration. HR would also draw up the relevant training contracts so that the company would not lose out financially if the employee was to leave once they had received the training. Conclusion To conclude the above points which I have mentioned, the HR department is an integral part of the organisation and is essential in meeting the business strategy. As you can see from the report without the HR department the business cannot function properly, by reducing the size of the HR department you may ultimately affect other parts of the business and the strategy as  whole. This may lead to an increase in employee retention and legal costs in the form of claims, tribunals etc. The examples of the parts of the business given above where HR is essential are a few and many more functions within the business need the HR department. The HR department are also their to support employee’s and for them to come and see and speak to someone in private and confidential nature this helps with employee relations. With the help of the HR department employees within the organisation are being given the necessary training. These employees who are given the opportunity of progress with the company are more devoted to meeting the business need and most of all the strategy. REFERENCES CIPD. (2014). What is an Induction. LATIN AMERICA :: essays research papers

LATIN AMERICA When someone talks about Latin America the first thing that usually comes to head is a beautiful place that is mostly occupied by poor peasant farmers who don’t know much about anything. Maybe the only thing that comes to mind is that its just a nice place to go for vacation, but that is because Latin America is probably unfamiliar to us Americans or we just think we’re to good for them. Whatever the reason being for not knowing much about Latin America is just about to change as well as the way you view Latin America. Latin America is rather large and kind of difficult to pin point since it starts from Mexico’s border with the United States of America all the way to a small island called Tierra del Fuego, but I can tell you that it’s south of the United States. Latin America also includes all of the Caribbean islands where almost all the countries are suffering of hunger and bad leadership. Brazil and Argentina are two of Latin America’s strongest countries because they make up most of the common market where other nations come to trade, buy goods and buy cash crops. There is a lot of fertile land and plantations in Latin America that produce goods such as sugarcanes and tropical fruits. There are places like mountain ranges where people do live, but eventually have to leave because of the conditions so most of those people end up living in the cities and have to find work which is very hard and leads to poverty in the cities. The cities are one of the weirdest places in Latin America simply because of the people and way of life. In the city you can see Lexus parked right next to a donkey and see a millionaire right next to a woman walking barefoot carrying her child and a bucket on her head. These are everyday life occurrences that give you a clue on how things are in Latin America. Human Life is actually put second in Latin America to working and because of this there is lack of educational and future opportunities. That is a reason for so many emigrants in the U.S; people see that there is no hope for their children so they save up money and come on boats that will free them from their depression. Latin America is a dominant Roman Catholic region though Protestants are on the rise.

A Report On The Case Of Intravenous Injection For Patients...

On 7th March 1972, the Daily Telegraph [1] published the news that 500 bottles of 5% dextrose drip-feed solution were urgently traced by the Department of Health since they may have been contaminated. Five patients, four men, and a woman died at the Devonport hospital in Plymouth between 29th February and 2nd March. The common factor among these patients was each had been given infusions of the 5% dextrose fluid manufactured by Evans Medical Ltd., of Speke, Liverpool. The dextrose solution is used by intravenous injection for patients who cannot eat including post-operative patients. The suspect batch coded D1192/C, originally consisting approximately 660 bottles, was manufactured in May 1971 by Evans Medical. A joint statement was issued†¦show more content†¦With steam continuously entering the autoclave from the top, the air inside the autoclave would be displaced. When the displacement finishes, all the contents in the autoclave would reach and be held at the required tem perature, giving the satisfactory sterilisation cycle. There are six autoclaves in the Transfusion Unit at Evans Medical, each consists of a pressure gauge and a dial thermometer at the top and a recording thermometer with an inserted recorder sensor in the condensate drain. There was evidence given by the autoclave operator and supervisor that occasionally the temperature recorders of autoclaves numbers 4, 5, and 6 either show a temperature below 240 or fail to indicate any rise above the baseline from about December 1970. When this happened, technicians were called to inspect the autoclaves. Normally, the recorder would work again and the sterilising cycle will be continued. On most of the occasions, the technician advised the supervisor that the temperature recorder was broken but the supervisor ignored his advice and continued using the autoclaves. In fact, the manager of the Transfusion Unit had requested for replacement of all six recorders but the request was not followed up. In consequence, in the event of the recorder not functioning, the staff continued the production if the dial thermometer and the pressure gauge were working properly and indicating correct temperature and pressure.
